but it looks like they’re managing, right?
taking care of someone isn’t always buying things for them

You put them before you, always. That’s how you take care of someone else, even an animal, when you can barely take care of yourself.

All you need some times to wake up the next day is to know someone or something loves you. My cat has kept me going many days.
